Events

Gathering as a community is essential to growing together in Christ.

Whether you’re new to Westview or you want to deepen your relationships with others in the church, join us for one of these upcoming events!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

Q:  Why is Westview Church doing this?

A:  We believe in using our building and property to help others and think this event meets a need for both buyers and sellers in our community.

Q:  Do you expect a lot of buyers?

A:  We are unable to say for sure but this event is being held on the designated Waukee Citywide Garage Sale day which we think will bring a lot of buyers.

Q:  Is there a flyer I can print and give to others who may be interested in participating?

A:  Yes, click here to access it.

Q:  Who can sell items?

A:  Anyone is welcome to be a seller. If children are selling, we ask that a parent or responsible adult remain with them the entire time they are set up and selling.

Q:  Do I need to register?

A:  Yes, we would like all sellers to register! To do so, please send an e-mail to info@westview.org. In your e-mail, indicate you would like to be a seller at the April 29th community event and provide your name and contact information. Also indicate if you’re planning to sell from your trunk, tailgate, or a table and let us know if you would like to reserve a table or if you will be providing your own.

Q:  Is there a charge to have a spot?

A:  No, participation is free for everyone.

Q:  Will the sale be inside or outside the building?

A:  The sale will be held outside.

Q:  When may I set up?

A:  You may start setting up at 7 AM. The sale is scheduled to begin at 8 AM but be aware that buyers often arrive early.

Q:  Must I stay the entire scheduled time of the event?

A:  No, it is flexible. If your items sell out early or you have other commitments, you may leave when you choose.

Q:  Do I have to provide my own table? The church has a limited number of tables that sellers can reserve on a first come basis.  When you reserve a spot, please indicate that you would like a table. We will let you know if there will be one available for you. If you think you’d like to sit down, consider bringing along a lawn chair. You may also sell items from the trunk or tailgate of your vehicle.

Q:  What kind of items can be sold?

A:  You may sell anything that may legally be sold in Iowa with the exception of live animals and weapons! This can include new and used household goods, sports equipment, clothing, homemade crafts, garden produce, or products such as Avon, Mary Kay, etc. You are responsible for pricing your items.

Q:  Will there be change available?

A:  Each seller will manage their own money and make their own change. We cannot provide assistance with this.

Q:  What will set up and clean up be like?

A:  If you have asked for a table, we will set it up and return it to the building for you. If you bring your own table, plan to set it up and load it back in your car at the end of the sale. Our volunteers may be able to assist you depending on how many sellers need help. Please plan to take everything you brought with you when you leave. The church dumpster will not be available for sellers to use for disposal of boxes, packing material, or unsold items.

Q:  Who do I contact if I have additional questions?

A:  Please send an e-mail to info@westview.org and we will get back to you as quickly as we can.
